What change do you wish to see in the world? What change will you ACTIVELY be a part of?...

No one of us would want to spot this kind of image. He too deserves a chance. We can all make it possible. Contact us and help transform this boy's life in a positive and loving way.

Matanya's Hope is about changing the world as it currently is. It is about breaking the cycle of poverty in Kenya Africa. I think it is fair to say that most of us have grown up hearing about stories of starving children in Africa. We've probably all seen the news reports or National Geographic articles of Africa and very few of us know the difference between Kenya and Uganda or Ethiopia. I am not going to give you a geography lesson. I am simply going to tell you a little bit about Kenya and what Matanya's Hope can mean. In Kenya, a child's education is provided for by the government until they reach middle school. At that point, it becomes the parent's responsibility. The children all want to continue to high school because they know that without education their future choices are very very limited. Unfortunately, most parents (if there are parents) cannot afford upper school for their children. Upper school is boarding school in Kenya. What is amazing is that college in Kenya is within easy reach of anyone who finishes high school. Education is the key to breaking the cycle of poverty in Kenya. Education is the key to helping Kenya become self sufficient - as more Kenyans become educated they can return to their villages as doctors, teaches, engineers, leaders and more. Education will eliminate the need for forced marriages where young girls are married as soon as they finish middle school. The cost to send a child to upper school in Kenya is roughly $60 a month. If you can sponsor a child, please consider doing so. If you can't sponsor a child, consider making a donation to cover the cost of books for a child who has been sponsored or the cost of a uniform, books, school supplies or a blanket for a child (you can see what other supplies are needed at http://www.matanyashope.org/). The school year in Kenya starts in January and there are a number of children in desperate need of your help now. As a member of Matanya's Hope, I am reaching out to ask each one of you to consider your goals and budgets for 2009 and ask yourself if you are going to ACTIVELY be a part of the change you want to see in the world around you. Do you want to be a part of a new Africa? A new world change? In a world of billions where you are one person, in Kenya you could the one person who means the world of difference to a child. You could be the difference between a life with a future to a child who may be facing a marriage to a man 40 years older than she is. You could be the difference between a young child living a life with a future or a future searching for food and living scrounging for survival. What change do you wish to see in the world? What change will you ACTIVELY be a part of? It does not take much - a little from each of us will make a big difference. If each of us reach out and recruit some of our friends, they donate a little, and they reach out to some of their friends...the change would be big. We could change the future in our lifetime. We can be a part of the change we wish to see in the world.
